Community

Community

Over the holiday’s I have been bombarded with images of Christian community.  From sermons to conversations and finally a great example of Christians living in community together.  I had the privilege of visiting some great friends to me and to Adeline Christian Camp over New Years weekend.  These friends are a part of a local church that emphasizes community.  The church has two “community houses” (one guys and one girls) where between five and eight twenty somethings live life together.

The morning after New Years the girls house was very kind in cooking everyone breakfast.  I wasn’t very sociable at this time, (probably due to the fact that I’m not a morning person) but I was able to sit back an observe a beautiful picture of what I think Christ intended for His Church.  There wasn’t any “God” conversations but I could see the genuine interest and transparency in each person as these friends conversed together.  No one was fake, they were real with each other.  It was beautiful to witness.

As I have thought about this, I believe this is what Christ meant for His Church.  Sharing everything with one another; joys, concerns, sins, possessions, food, etc.  I also thought about our “Church” today.  Are we really living in community as Christ intended?  Do we genuinely care for one another? Would we give our brothers and sisters the clothes off our backs?  Would we reveal our deepest and darkest secrets to one another?

Lets seriously consider how we have been being the Church Jesus intended.  Please reply and let’s get the conversation going about real, authentic community.

Social Media Marketing?

Hello friends and family,

Dana and I had the privilege of attending CCCA’s national conference this year.  We are overwhelmed and excited for the direction Adeline Christian Camp is heading.  One of the biggest “take a ways” that I received from the conference is the concept of social media marketing.  It seems that today’s new trend is not in traditional marketing, but marketing by word of mouth.  ”Creating talkability”.

There are currently………

  • There are more than 500 million active users on Facebook
  • 50% of active users log on to Facebook in any given day
  • An average user has 130 friends
  • People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook

also Facebook…….

  • Has over 900 million objects that people interact with (pages, groups, events and community pages)
  • The average user is connected to 80 community pages, groups and events
  • The average user creates 90 pieces of content each month
  • Has more than 30 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.) shared each month.

and…….

  • Twitter now has 105,779,710 registered users.
  • New users are signing up at the rate of 300,000 per day.
  • 180 million unique visitors come to the site every month.
  • 75% of Twitter traffic comes from outside Twitter.com (i.e. via third party applications.)
  • Twitter gets a total of 3 billion requests a day via its API.
  • Twitter users are, in total, tweeting an average of 55 million tweets a day.
  • Twitter’s search engine receives around 600 million search queries per day.
  • Of Twitter’s active users, 37 percent use their phone to tweet.
  • Over half of all tweets (60 percent) come from third party applications.

and……

so….
Adeline Christian Camp needs to hop on the ‘social media marketing band wagon!’

This concept of social media marketing is free people!! Adeline Christian Camp could use your help.  The way we get the word out about Jesus and His saving grace is through you!! Please help Adeline Christian Camp have an even bigger impact on today’s youth through our presence on the web by sharing our content with everyone you know.

Communicating this concept of social media marketing, presents challenges for me as I am not a writer.  So, as I try to blog, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, (anything associated with social media marketing) about relevant information, camp’s activity, and the christian camping movement please bear with me as I try to articulate my thoughts. Thank you and God bless.
